Unifor members at CommerceLink in British Columbia have ratified a new collective agreement that strengthens job security and improves wages and benefits.

“Collective bargaining is one of the most powerful tools workers have to protect themselves through periods of industry change and growing competition,” said Unifor National President Lana Payne. “By standing together, CommerceLink members in British Columbia secured fair wages, better benefits and the job security protections they need to move forward with stability and confidence.”

Logistic companies in Canada are being pressured to reduce prices and operating costs. This was one reason why CommerceLink workers decided to organize with Unifor and it remained the bargaining committee’s main focus throughout negotiations.

“Job security was the priority for these members from day one and this agreement delivers on it,” said Unifor Western Regional Director Gavin McGarrigle. “With all the challenges facing the logistics Industry, the bargaining committee remained committed to providing fairness and stability to its members. The end result is a strong protection for our members regarding seniority and layoffs.”

The one-year agreement delivers wage and benefit improvements alongside new job security language. It ensures seniority is recognized and applied during layoffs and that members maintain their benefits coverage through layoff periods, giving workers greater stability when industry conditions shift.

The agreement takes effect June 11, 2026 and expires June 15, 2027. The ratification follows another recent win earlier this month, when Unifor Local 4050 members at CommerceLink Logistics in Calgary and Nisku ratified their first collective agreement.
